Vanderwarker, Richard D.

Scope Note: Richard D. Vanderwarker was born in Boston and served in the Navy during WWII. From 1947 to 1952, he served as director of Passavant Memorial Hospital in Chicago while earning his master's degree in hospital administration from Northwestern University. Vanderwarker joined Memorial in 1952 as general manager. In 1962, he was appointed Vice President of the cancer center to manage joint services between Memorial Hospital for and the Sloan Kettering Institute and was elected president of the Greater New York Hospital Association. He also served as president of the Hospital Association of New York State from 1963 to 1965. Vanderwarker died in 1971 at the age of 59.
