Biographical / Historical
Southam worked as an oncologist and immunologist at Memorial Hospital. He faced controversy due to the human implantation studies he performed in the 1950s and 1960s. As a result, Southam was placed on probation by the Regents of the University of the State of New York for one year. He went on to become president of the American Association for Cancer Research.
